Boats On Shore

Sunday, September 14, 2014 12:12pm WVFD was dispatched for a report of a boat in distress off of Albany Farm. Boat5 responded with 3 and Response2 with 2 went to Albany Farm location. Boat5 arrived on scene and found two small outboard motor boats washed ashore. No one was around and coolers and other supplies had been taken out of boats and placed on shore. VMRC arrived on scene and took over scene. Boat5 and Response2 returned to service.

     



 

9/11 Anniversary

Tuesday, September 9, 2014  As another anniversary of 9/11 comes to past let's all take a few minutes and pray not only for the 343, but for everyone that died that horrible day and for the families of lost ones.

Friday, September 5, 2014 19:00hrs Being a member of a Volunteer fire department is not just running 911 calls. To help pay for all the tools and gear that is required to do our jobs we still need to do an occasional BINGO night at the firehouse. Thanks to the community who came out and supported us.

Northern Neck Schools Open Sept. 2

Monday, August 25, 2014  Northern Neck area schools will open for the 2014-2015 school year on September 2, 2014. Let's all be very careful on the roadways while we are traveling during school hours. Please be mindful of your speed in school zones and be on the outlook for STOPPED or SLOWING school buses. Remember that those children are not watching for you so please watch out for them. Thursday, August 21, 2014   WVFD was asked to assist Northern Neck Chevrolet in their ALS Ice Water Challenge. Engine22's deck gun was utilized in meeting the challenge. Saturday, July 26, 2014 18:30hrs Brush2, Tanker2, Response2, and Brush5 were used to standby while two large piles of brush was burned.

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 03:40 hrs WVFD was requested to respond to assist CDVFD with a working structure fire in the Nomini Hall Road area of the County. WVFD units Eng51, Eng21, and Tnk2 responded. All departments in Westmoreland Co. along units from Northumberland and Richmond Co, responded.

Dump Truck Roll Over

Friday, July 18, 2014 07:18 hrs WVFD and WDES M2 were dispatched to an overturned dump truck with driver inside. WDES M2 arrived on scene first to find that driver had self extricated but was complaining of minor injuries. Brush5 arrived to find a dump truck loaded with armor stone lying on the drivers side. Truck was in process of off loading the stone when it tipped to drivers side and rolled over. Eng22. responded but placed inservice before arriving. WCSO was also on scene.

   


 

Car in ditch on Erica Rd.

Saturday, June 21, 2014 06:24hrs Westmoreland Co. Dispatch Center dropped tones for WVFD at 06:24hrs for a one car accident on Erica Road. Engine 51 with 3 responded and arrived on scene to fine a vehicle in a ditch resting on the driver's side. Driver was out of vehicle and denied any injuries. WCVRS reported to the scene to obtain a patient refusal and Eng22 was placed in service.

     



 

Car into pond at Washington & Lee Motel

Thursday, June 19, 2014 21:29hrs WVFD was dispatched to 17055 King's Hwy (the Washington & Lee Motel) for reported vehicle into the pond. Eng51 with Lt.5 arrived on scene first to find a pickup truck in the pond almost out to the fountain. The driver was out of the vehicle and denied any injuries. Eng22, Response2, Car2, Montross VRS and WCSO also responded to the scene.
