WVFD Runs house fire

Tuesday, February 28, 2017  WVFD took in a house fire earlier in February. During the early morning hours WVFD and mutual aid companies were alerted to a house on fire. Engine 22 (Capt. Jones) arrived on the scene to find a single story wood frame residential with fire showing from the alpha quadrant. Engine 22 quickly deployed a hand line and began fire attack while the driver stretched a supply line. WDES Medic 3 was on the scene and assisted Engine 22 with exterior efforts. The residence sustained significant damage from fire and smoke. Units operating on the scene: E22, E5, Brush 2, Tanker 4, and WDES Medic 3



WVFD 2016 Christmas Adopt-A-Child

Sunday, January 22, 2017  Members of the WVFD and WVFD Auxiliary made Christmas special for a family of the community. Members donated their own money to make this a special Christmas for two children. The children recieved a ride on the fire truck and gifts while members loaded the car with gifts from Santa. The members and family enjoyed food a fellowship after the event. A true testament to the huge hearts and passion of the members of the WVFD and Auxiliary.



WVFD 2016 year end review

Sunday, January 22, 2017  WVFD personnel answered 603 calls for service in 2016 with 337 of those as EMS related incidents and 266 fire related incidents . Personnel spent an average of 22 minutes on scenes with an average of 6 personnel one each call provideng 79, 596 hours of service to our community on calls. WVFD personnel provided 800 hours of personnel hours towards work nights and fundraising activities, 1,238 personnel hours didicated to training. Members spend countless hours away from their families to provide a valuable service to our community that otherwise would cost the taxpayers of Westmoreland millions of dollars in taxes to fund.

WVFD Runs gargage fire

Saturday, January 21, 2017  The WVFD was alerted to a structure fire Saturday morning just after returning from a fire alarm. Rescue Engine 22 (Weston) responded with four personnel, Utility 2 (Chief Balderson), and Tankers 1,2, 3, 4, and 6 responded to the call. Rescue Engine 22 arrived to find a 2 story gargage with smoke showing on all sides. The crew of RE 22 stretched an attack line to the delta side and secured a water supply from Tanker 2. Assistance Chief Weston established command and companies made quick work on the fire containing it to the areas of origin.

Jeep into Nomini Creek

Sunday, November 27, 2016   WVFD was dispatched to a vehicle in the creek. Upon arrival units found a Jeep had rolled down an embankment and into the water. No injuries reported.



WVFD places Truck 2 in service

Saturday, August 13, 2016   WVFD recently purchased and placed in service Truck 2 to add additional capabilities for the department to serve the citizens and visitors of Westmoreland County.

Truck 2 is a 1998 Pierce Dash 105' quint. It has a 2000 gpm pump with a 500 gallon water tank. Truck 2 carries multiple 1 3/4" attack lines and one 2 1/2" attack line. Truck 2 also carries 800 feet of 4" supply line. Truck 2 can be operated as a pumper and/or a ladder depending on the situation. Truck 2 carries a full compliment of ground ladders and other associated equipment.

By purchasing this multi function apparatus used, and in excellent condition, WVFD and the citizens of Westmoreland County saved approximately $800,000.00. versus the cost of a new apparatus today.
