Westmoreland VFD in the near future will be adding a second sub-station to it's department. Through the efforts of concerned citizens in the Stratford Hall and Stratford Harbour areas a movement to raise the funds needed to build and equipment a fire station in that area took root. This group has worked hard in raising the needed funds which they have acquired 70% of the $125,000 needed to build the building. They still have a ways to go but with the support of WVFD and the citizens in that area they should meet their goals in the very near future. Funding is one thing but the need for volunteers to run out of the station is a major requirement. If you would like to become a firefighter you need to join now so you can obtain the training needed to become a firefighter. It takes a minimum of a year just to get the training but more importantly you need the time to get the experience. WVFD looks forward to working with the citizens in this area to continue giving them the best fire service available.
