Saturday, January 29, 2011 Jan. 22, 2010 Cople District Co.3 held a in house trainning on open cold water and ice rescue. A very informational and eye opening day. Members from WVFD that Attended include Jay Hynson, Jesse Jones, David Morgans, William Sisson, and John Pitts.

The year end banquet was held on Jan. 8, 2011 at Westmoreland Vol. Fire Dept. Guest speaker was Albert Pollard Delegate, House of Representatives. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 2011 Ford F450 4x4 6.7l Diesel with Hale pump and 300 gallon water tank and 10 gallon foam tank. 300ft of booster redline and 500ft of dry forestry line. 12,000lb front bumper mounted winch. Truck is identified as Brush-5 and is first due on all brush fires. It is also licensed as a BLS non-transport unit for running first responder calls.
Friday, November 5, 2010 WVFD traveled to Urbanna for the 53rd Annual Oyster Festival. Tanker 2 took home the first place trophy for best tanker. Thanks to all the members that cleaned the truck for the parade. Good job guys.
Sunday, October 31, 2010 Over 300 kids came to Engine Co. 2 for Halloween. Several firefighters were standing by to give out candy and fire prevention information. Hopefully we will continue doing this for years to come. Thanks to all members that showed up for the event. Special thanks to some of our Probies and future Probies for being great sports and helping out.
Sunday, October 24, 2010 The new Brush 5 for the substation (Engine Co. 5) is soon to be finished. Brush 5 is a 2010 Ford F-450 with a 300 gallon tank and 250 GPM pump. Brush 5 will handle brush fires and EMS calls in the Mt. Holly area.
Tuesday, October 19, 2010 Engine Co. 2 was dispatched to route 3 for a MVA with entrapment. Further information revealed that a fire apparatus from a neighboring county was involved. Rescue Engine 22 arrived on scene to find a Fire Rescue SUV versus a dump truck with heavy damage. One patient was still in the vehicle. Dispatched assigned Engine Co. 3 for the LZ. Engine 22's crews quickly stabilized the vehicle and began assessing the patient. Crews removed the entire drivers side. The patient was removed from the vehicle and handed over to M-3. The patient was transported by ground to Mary Washington Hospital per patient choice. The patient suffered non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. One other patient was transported to Riverside Tappahanock Hospital by M-2. Apparatus - Rescue Engine 22, Response 2, Tanker 2, Utility 5, M-3, M-2, CDVFD Attack 32, Rescue 3, Response 3, WCSO, VSP
Tuesday, September 14, 2010 1855 Engine Co. 2 was dispatched along with Rescue Station 3 for a female that had fallen approximately 75ft down a cliff. While responding M-31 requested Helicopter and Capt 2 requested CBVFD Boat 1. Chief 2A arrived on scene POV and established patient contact via access road to the beach. Capt. 2 AOS and assumed Bald Eagle Rd. Command. Rescue Engine 22 arrived and personnel were directed to carry rescue equipment to victim. Response 2 established the LZ supervised by Chief 2. Patient was packaged and loaded onto private vessel and transported to M-31. M-31 transported the patient to the LZ and patient was flown via Aircare 2 to MWH. All units were placed in service by command.
